SILENT SINGERS (a poem)
Here we are by circumstance, as we do this verbal dance, speaking with our fist and thumb, takes the place of teeth and tongue. I hear you through your hands as we try to understand, sentence structure strands and verbal text commands. Fire in your eyes make the words intensify. A gesture with the hand helps to make me understand, punctuate, enunciate an ocean full of words relate. Pounding with the fist in hand, stringing pearls of verbal sands, shouting through your fingers, yet the silence ever lingers. Will you sign my poem, for this poem is a sign, for the deft and hard of hearing, but not for the blind. Communication, thought sensation, destination, substantiation. Creativity, authenticity, I know you're understanding me. A melody of hearts and hands, harmony without a band, singing words through our 10 fingers, together silent singers.
